You are stronger than you think
I see your face with a smile
As I come to give you a hug
The warmth exuding
Stood the winds of time
The harsh lines on your face
Tell a story untold held inside
The frail frame holds many stories
I hold it few secs more
As I feel it shiver in my warmth
I hold out a hot cup of tea
You warm your palms and sip
Looking down at your feet
The nails scratching the floor
I look at you with questions
You purse your lips and then smile
My warmth perhaps giving strength
Flood gates open and tears unshed
The stories of yesterday
Of being loved and then discarded
And of laughter and tears
Of people changing,
Hurting and then the storms
I let those tears flow as do the tales
It's not time yet not yet
To give advise or tell her better
Can't judge nor really feel her pain
Her journey her persona
I looked at her with love
A lump in my throat I gulp
She looks up and smiles
Our eyes clash and well up
Just one more time
Exchanging the smile of victory
Over our fight with life and people
I slowly reach out across the chair
Embrace her close to my frame
I realize I hugged myself
It was my soul sitting right there
As I hugged...it sunk in me
It's my soul telling me
You are stronger than you think
Seen many storms and survived
A giver, a listener yet a winner
So what if the world failed
Look up sweetheart
Your smile and grace
Your character and strength
An example to a few who need
Few who shall hold you by
In deep seas and noisy storms
Wait and open your eyes
Future holds with open arms
You are stronger than you think
Larger than you know
Have the courage and smile
Coz the world may be shattered
But the world doesn't ever end.
